SLG Turns High-Temperature Waste Heat into Cooling & Heating
2026-11-05
SLG has delivered a dual-energy, triple-use lithium bromide system for a carbon-based composite materials project, converting high-temperature flue gas waste heat into useful energy for cooling and heating
Using 500°C flue gas from an on-site gas-fired generator as the primary heat source, with natural gas as backup, a single unit can simultaneously provide:
• Chilled water for cooling
• Hot water for space heating
• Domestic hot water
By replacing multiple standalone cooling and heating systems with one integrated solution, the project helps reduce equipment investment, energy consumption, operating complexity and maintenance costs.
More importantly, the system makes productive use of waste heat that would otherwise be released, reducing natural gas consumption and associated carbon emissions while supporting more efficient energy use across the site.
This project demonstrates a practical pathway for waste heat recovery in new materials and other energy-intensive industries, including chemicals, pulp and paper, food, pharmaceuticals and industrial parks.
SLG will continue to advance customized waste heat utilization solutions that help industrial customers lower costs, improve energy efficiency and accelerate low-carbon transformation.
