SLG Advances Thermal-Power Decoupling with Electrode Boiler + Thermal Storage Solution
2026-10-22
SLG is supporting a new heat-power decoupling project in northern China with two 50MW high-voltage electrode boilers, helping a thermal power plant build a more flexible heating and power system.
The solution combines high-voltage electrode boilers with large-scale thermal storage:
• During off-peak periods, surplus wind and solar electricity can be converted into heat and stored
• During peak demand, stored heat is released to maintain stable heating supply
• This helps reduce the heating burden on coal-fired units and frees up more flexibility for power generation and renewable energy integration
The project will support heating for approximately 7.8 million m² of residential area, while helping improve peak-shaving capability and renewable energy utilization.
By shifting part of the heating load from conventional thermal power units to flexible electric heating and thermal storage, SLG is helping build a more efficient and adaptable power system.
Looking ahead, SLG will continue to advance reliable thermal energy solutions that support heat-power decoupling, renewable energy integration and the transition toward cleaner energy systems.
