Market Insight: Distributed Solar Is Reshaping Pakistan’s Energy Landscape
2026-10-15
Pakistan is undergoing a rapid distributed solar transformation.
According to a recent report by Ember and Renewables First, distributed solar capacity reached 38 GW by June 2025, with 27 GW added in just two years. Solar generation rose from 15 TWh to 51 TWh, increasing its share of the country’s power mix from 10% to 28%.
The growth is being driven by clear market needs: high grid electricity prices, frequent power outages and the strong economics of solar-plus-storage compared with conventional energy sources.
Solar adoption is expanding across residential, industrial, commercial and agricultural applications. For industrial users in particular, distributed solar is helping reduce energy costs, improve power reliability and support lower-carbon production.
For SLG, this creates strong opportunities in:
·High-efficiency PV modules
·Solar + energy storage solutions
·Microgrids
·Customized energy solutions for industrial and commercial users
With Chinese solar products already playing a major role in the local market, SLG sees significant potential to combine reliable products, integrated solutions and localized service to support the region’s energy transition.
